LATOUR DEPARTS HEADQUARTERS STAFF
Alpha Sigma Phi Headquarters announced today that Steven J. Latour, Central Michigan ’04, the current Senior Director of Advancement, has been tapped to become the next Chief Executive Officer of Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity effective July 1, 2014. Latour was chosen after an exhaustive two-year executive search process and replaces longtime CEO William P. Bernier.
Latour will relocate to Warrensburg, Missouri at the beginning of July to begin the transition process with Bill Bernier, who has served as the Executive Vice President and CEO of Sigma Tau for 41 years. He will assume all responsibilities for the day to day operations of the Fraternity and Foundation once the transition process has ended.
Steve was a re-founding father of the Delta Rho Chapter at Central Michigan University and was initiated on August 1, 2004. His tenure on Headquarters Staff extended nearly ten years having served in a variety of roles with responsibility for the functional areas of marketing and communications; leadership programming; expansion and growth; chapter and colony development; chapter discipline, volunteer engagement, development director, and major gift officer since joining the staff in January 2005.
“I am so proud of what we have been able to accomplish since I joined staff. As I reflect on the relationships built, chapters strengthened, colonies that have chartered, and all of the areas of the Fraternity that I have been able to lend a hand too, I filled with so much pride. I cannot wait to see how the Fraternity continues to evolve and grow in the years to come. I would be remiss if I did not also thank the 47 different staff members I had the honor to serve with during my tenure – all who contributed in large and small ways to helping me grow personally and professionally,” said Steve Latour.
Latour played an important role in establishing the current brand and identity of Alpha Sigma Phi, including launching a new member education program in 2012, spearheaded the 6th edition of the TBTM Manual; and significantly contributed to the 2009 edition of the Ritual Manual. He is also credited with laying the foundation for our renewed west coast expansion in 2010. He also served as the Director for five summer meetings including the 2012 Grand Chapter which had 540 people in attendance, the largest gathering of Alpha Sigs to date.
“Brother Latour has left a lasting mark and an incredible legacy while on staff and it is doubtful that outside of Ralph Burns, any member of the staff has formed a relationship with so many members. I am excited for him and for what this means for Alpha Sigma Phi. I am certain he will help Sigma Tau Gamma reach their strategic goals and look forward to finding ways for us to support our organizations interfraternally” said Alpha Sigma Phi President and CEO Gordy Heminger, Bowling Green ’96.
Steve’s last day at Headquarters will be on June 13. Those interested in reaching out to Steve can reach him at firstname.lastname@example.org or at @stevelatour on Twitter.
